ok girls.....i've been thinking a lot about "back in the day" at girls camp. ahhh....fond memories!! i really think we should write our memories down SO we don't forget them...we had some of the most hilarious, fun, grose and truly bonding experiences. these are some of my memories...LET'S HEAR YOURS!!
- LICE....what was that about?? that was crazy but something we won't forget!
*getting kicked off the lake for taking the canoes out without permission (actually the best part was michelle's aunt who is only 3 years older doing the kicking....)
-uhhh....does skinny-dipping ring a bell? who? us? NOOO! going with our leaders...ew..maybe we shouldn't reveal who.. running down the dock in our birthday suits trying to get to our clothes before the priesthood saw us with their flashlights...good times!
*skipping testimony meeting to rummage through other camp sites and to sample their food....sample sounds better...lol
-making our leaders cry and kick down the door...girls just want to have fun right??
*our glow in the dark faces trying to sneak out of our campsite...again..just wanting to have fun!
-ratting celestia's hair while the poor girl was peeling potatoes...it was so bad the 5th years had to wash and condition it 5+ times...sorry celestia..you were always a good sport!
*taking long showers and putting our mascara on perfect when we were supposed to be certifying for something...lol..what was that again????
-"circle of friendship"...michelle already mentioned her little accident with that...for some reason I don't remember that..."brytteva, i just let it go"....
*"but i only brought one pair of underwear..." does that ring a bell to anyone???? i won't mention names
-laughing histarically in our tent when we should have been sleeping or digging trenches....oops!
wow, i know i have more but i'm drawing a blank....i hope you guys remember more!!!!

totally cracked me up carie. thanks for the fond memories indeed. i have so many that my comment would take up way to long but these are my top ten:
1. definately the celestia potato scenario
2. carie's call (we all know what that was)
3. initiating the younger girls with old faceful
4. making up stories about five thousand dollars, wind, and two scoops
5. the tree swing! that was awesome
6. chanting around our nazi camp
7. yes skinny dipping at the lake, getting kicked out of the lake, and who could get to the floating dock first
8. our funny as heck skit...carie was doris day, brytt was dorothy of oz, erika was dolly, angi was lincoln, celestia was little mermaid, i was mj...michelle i'm totally drawing a blank someone help me out
9. whoopy cusions at devotionals
10. and my personal fav...digging ditches in the rain while being yelled at because brytteva is cracking up in the tent...classic
I am laughing so hard! I have a terrible memory, but when sherrie and brytt made their lists and I read them, i remember the good times!!! But what can i add? Here's some new and some repeated:
- yelling so much and losing our voices
- my "burp-a-croak award." (i'm a little embarassed to mention this!)
- Meeting Heather and Gretchen our first year there and bonding
- Meeting Lucinda our 5th (or 4th?)
year and staying up all night
- Early morning flag raising/devotional...way too early for me!!
-Our third year having the psychotic leaders. One swore at us and made us dig trenches, the other had migrains (probably thanks to us...or was she very dramatic) and having her leave camp for the hospital (maybe the Psych Ward)
- "Licey first ward"
- Our leader, Kathy Devine (SORRY, Kathy!!!) telling us to "turn off the flashlights!, and laughing like crazy, saying "They're our faces!" I'm glad she still talks to me!
- Autobody (probably not the most endearing nickname)
- Buying tons of junk from the "store" and getting sick off it
We need to get Angi on here, she is good at this kind of thing.
1. Getting in trouble for using the Mormon Sign in a Girl's Camp Picture (by one sign language leader who thought we were being dirty or flashing gang signs).
2. Kerri Watt and Krista Bernard getting sent home for flinging brocolli at Sis. Campbell's butt, which earned her the nickname of "Brocolli Butt."
3. Drama, drama, and more drama.
4. The Brady Bunch
5. A leaking TP
6. You older girls and "Grease Lightning" and wasn't Brytevva "the church lady" or something?
7. Unforgettable Songs like: Mormon Boy, Loaded with Money (what were they teaching us at Girl's Camp anyway??), etc.
P.S.-Have you been to Coon Lake recently? It looks completely different! It has at least ten new buildings including some really nice dorms and lodge.

Thanks ladies for the trip down memory lane. I remember girls camp being so much fun. Especially getting out of the house and being able to sneak around and not get caught. I could never do that at home since my mom was so on top of things. The best memories for me were being "Licey 1st ward", skinny dipping, losing our voices, "pappy and smeary", and feeling like I could say anything. I remember going to Zion's Camp for a joint campout with the guys and trading off being in love with Shawn Zaugg one hour and David Hunsaker the next! Boys were always on our minds no matter where we were, even at girls camp! Or was that just me? Fun times...
definatley wasn't just you erika, i can say the same and shawn zaugg was on my list too. pappy and smeary totally remember that! :)
"pappy and smeary" i totally don't remember...but CARIE i remember your belches...oh my goodness, you could belch like no other! that's pure talent! our 3rd year NAZI camp...were we that bad that our leaders couldn't handle us? (wink)...i can't believe people got sent home for flinging broccoli..lol..those leaders are lucky they didn't have the older crew..more leaders would be going to the psych ward...or maybe it was my laugh that threw them over the edge...lol
does anyone remember this?? i ran into helen brunson a few months ago and the poor lady is still in young women's..anyway she remembers taking us tp'ing in the middle of the night (not at girl's camp)and having a cop catch us and telling her to take us home...i totally don't remember that! she also said we were her favorite!!
i sort of remember the tp thing, we went so much they kinda blur together huh? well i was in the shower this morning and started laughing out of no where cause i was thinking of "they're our faces!" so much fun...it is interesting to think about how obnoxious we must have been to some of our more conservative leaders, but then we had some pretty cool leaders who were a blast to hang out with! maybe we got so use to the cool ones that when a mean one came along we had to give it to them and show them who was boss :)
Hmmm...not knowing a lot of you too well, but having this image of you (because you guys were always the cool, older girls!), this is a funny thread to read!
I only went to camp with you girls 1 year but it was a blast. i remember lot's of rain and laughing. Anyway I have had the privilege of going to girls camp as a leader. They are way to strict now. You can't even go snipe hunting. Let's just say I was to lenient on my girls and I got in trouble with the stakies. They are no fun!! Coon lake brought back some good memories of my girls. It is lookin good up there. Fun stuff!!
in addition to the above-mentioned infamousities (i think i made that word up, bryt), my memories include:
- our skit...me as the church lady
- another skit...starring carie as the "king" and she was looking for gifts or something...angi bernard finally brought her "raisins", which the king loved, until one day the raisins ceased & angi said it was because her rabbit died. i didn't get the joke until the next day!
- freeeezing cold showers
- i remember someone was constipated because they were too freaked out to use the potty...
- sherrie about to pee her pants...running down the trail to the outhouse and freaking out because i shined the flashlight on her while she was a peein'
- "alice the camel"
- "my life as a dog, ruff ruff, ruff ruff...my guy yells at me, ruff ruff, ruff ruff, and i tell him to chill, ruff ruff ruff ruff"
- celestia's devotional using "i'll be there" by Escape Club...telling us to listen to it as if Jesus were singing...it's been stuck in my head since i remembered!
- anne marie & sarah, and joining their "slurpee club"
i know there are so many more but for the life of me i cannot remember!!
Whoops! Sorry, Michelle. I have a clouded memory of these things and all my Girls Camp pictures are still packed. :)
I don't have too many memories of girls camp but I remember being the planet neptune or something with sister Tonks, and then being the laughing Hyena's (spelling?), and that silly song "Hey hey we're the hyena's and people say we Hyena around but we're to busy playing to put anybody down " And having our hair in those tiny braids..good times....good times...
